I'm Lew Ludwig–
a mathematician by training, a teacher at heart, and now an AI educator by necessity and passion. Like many educators, I was initially skeptical of generative AI. But after working closely with faculty since its emergence, I’ve come to see AI not as a threat, but as a tool—one that can empower thoughtful, engaging, and ethical teaching when used with intention. I now work with educators across disciplines to help them move from confusion to clarity, from fear to fluency. Whether you’re planning a workshop, revising your syllabus, or leading institutional change, I bring a grounded, research-informed perspective—with a touch of humor—to help you make sense of AI in the classroom and beyond.
My Approach:
Curiosity. Caution. Confidence.
When it comes to AI in education, I don’t offer one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I meet faculty where they are—whether they’re skeptics, explorers, or early adopters. My workshops are designed to be conversational, not prescriptive. That means you won’t get a lecture about AI. You’ll get an experience with it.

Each session is built around three principles:
1. Start with Why
We begin by asking the right questions. What challenges are you facing? What values guide your teaching? What are you actually trying to achieve? This anchors the session in your real-world context—not Silicon Valley hype.
2. Try, Don’t Just Talk
Participants get hands-on with AI tools in low-stakes, meaningful ways. Whether we’re exploring prompt design, redesigning assignments, or testing detection tools, I emphasize experimentation over perfection. It's not about becoming an AI expert—it's about gaining fluency and confidence.
3. Apply with Intention
Finally, we focus on practical next steps. How can AI support your learning goals without compromising your standards or values? I offer actionable takeaways that you can adapt for your course, department, or institution.
Workshops can range from short overviews to half- or full-day sessions, and are always customized to your audience. My goal? To help educators move from confusion to clarity—without losing their sense of purpose, professionalism, or humor.
